One Minute of Silence

JayinPhiladelphia
Some 40 years ago, at the 20th Olympiad in Munich, West Germany, the world was shocked when 11 Israelis -- six coaches and five athletes -- were murdered by the Palestinian terrorist group Black September. But since that time the international Olympic Movement has refused calls to devote one minute of silence before the start of every Olympics to remember the tragic events of 1972. This Olympics in London is the perfect opportunity to right the wrongs of the past. Indeed, the slogan for the 2012 Olympics is ‘Inspire a Generation’. Now it is time to live up to these words. Plaques and memorials only go so far. What is now needed is a minute of silence.
Just one minute.  The Australian Parliament clearly doesn't feel this is too much to ask for.  The motion was passed unanimously last night, and members stood in silence.  Thank you, Australia.  And come on now, London.  And the IOC.  There are 24,480 minutes in this olympiad.  Just one minute for the 11 murdered Israeli athletes, unprecedentedly slaughtered by terrorists in cold blood, simply for who they were, is one too many?  Seriously?

  1. I believe we are the only country in the world which has bi-artisan support for Israel.

    Thanks for posting Jay.

    1. Indeed, and that would be nice here, too. Support for Israel in the US is actually rather broad, as well, but fractured, as I've found.

For instance, certain of us on the Left, like me, who now refuse to demonize our opponents on the other side of the political aisle, and who dare deign to associate with Republicans and conservatives in a respectful manner, or even with fellow left-wing Democrats who nonetheless have that 'nasty habit' of insisting upon thinking for themselves, are smeared by our very own ideological allies as "Democratic fellow-travelers" to Republicans, who are, of course, allegedly "evil," apparently, simply for thinking differently about certain things than the majority of my fellow leftists do, by the more intolerant, authoritarian factions of my movement.

Now I'll never understand that, and I'll never be able to explain it, but it's sure there. Sadly enough.

      Thanks for reading, Shirl.

    2. Australia is a great friend to Israel, as is Canada and the United States.

This support, however, is fractured on the left, as Jay says.

The problem is that the western left has accepted hatred for the Jewish people, and the Jewish state, under the guise of anti-Zionism and this hatred is eased into the public domain by way of dhimmitudenous Jews who insist that the problem is other Jews rather than 14 centuries of Arab-Muslim hostility toward us.

      That's the big mistake.

Progressive-left Jewish dhimmis honestly believe that the failure of peace is because other Jews are just mean.
