Apologies to Dearborn!

Mike L.

It seems that the Christians who were attacked by a mob during an Arab-American festival were not quite so innocent as we were led to believe.

This is one of the signs that they were carrying before the crowd started pelting them with stones and garbage:

And the leader of the group was holding up this:

Whatever sympathy that I may have had for these "Christians" is entirely gone. You do not go into a heavily Arab-Muslim community like Dearborn, Michigan, during an Arab-American festival, and get directly in their faces with the kind of atrocious nonsense that we see above.

I do not know that those guys deserved to be stoned, for chrissake, but the outrage of the community is more than understandable.

I need to learn to respect my initial instincts on stories like this. As I wrote yesterday:

I post this with some reluctance, but I've never seen anything quite like it.

It seems that my reluctance was justified and the Arab-Muslim community in Dearborn is owed an apology.

They have mine.

    1. It takes a special kind of asshole to carry a pig's head into an Arab-American festival.

      What a schmuck!

Y'know, every year in San Francisco they hold a pro-Israel festival south of Market Street and every year there are a small number of protesters, including some people from Daily Kos, that gather across the street. I cannot even imagine how people would behave if one of those protesters was carrying around a pig's head.

I know that it would get me fightin' mad.

  2. My first thought when I saw this yesterday was Karma is wrong, again. But I re-thought that, thinking person that I am, and decided maybe you were right. What is it with the rocks?

But context is important. It didn't happen in a vacuum. I see the videos of the anti-gay religious bigots at funerals, and I'm not sure I could stand there and not pick up a rock and hurl it at them. I can't condone the violence, but yeah, I get it.

    1. Karma, wrong?

      Wrong, you say?

Karma is almost never wrong, my friend. Karma is almost always entirely spot on... which you would know if you had my vast reservoir of wisdom to draw upon.

But, yes, in this case I was deceived.

I was hoodwinked! Bamboozed! Led astray! Run amok!

      Shame on them.

    2. In fairness, I have been consuming the vast reservoir of Karma wisdom for a generation or more (in internet years), and in total, I sheepishly agree.

    Yes, that's right.

Moreover, it's such behavior by such people -- that behavior by those Christians -- that obfuscates actual dangerous actions by adherents of the Islamic supremacist political movement and that obfuscates actual danger being posed by the Islamic supremacist political movement.

The following videos document actual U.S.-Constitutionally-illegal action against Christian American citizens by Muslim American citizens, and by Dearborn Police officers, in Dearborn, Michigan, and document subsequent actual U.S.-Constitutionally-illegal dangerous persecution of those Christians by government officials (Dearborn government officials who are Muslim, and Islamic-supremacism-colluding government officials who are not Muslim), in Dearborn, Michigan.

The events that are described in this video -- U.S.-Constitutionally-illegal persecution of David Wood, the leader and founder of the Evangelical Christian anti-Sharia group, ACT 17 Apologetics, by government officials (Dearborn government officials who are Muslim, and Islamic-supremacism-colluding Dearborn government officials who are not Muslim), in Dearborn, Michigan -- are harrowing.
